Haedong Yonggungsa Temple
especially popular during Buddha’s Birthday, when colorful lanterns are lit throughout the temple. the narrow entrance can make the temple feel crowded quickly. Unlike most temples, which focus primarily on statues of Buddha or bodhisattvas, this temple features many unusual and eye-catching decorations. While this makes it appealing as a tourist destination, some devout Buddhists criticize it for lacking the quiet, solemn atmosphere typical of sacred places. Next to the Golden Buddha statue viewing platform, there's a path leading to the National Institute of Fisheries Science, passing over a bridge with excellent coastal views. Since most tourists turn back after reaching the temple, this seaside trail is quieter and often preferred by locals. At the end of the trail, the free-entry Fisheries Science Museum features a small aquarium and various exhibits.
